New TPS series tantalum capacitors from AVX offer industry’s lowest ESR ratings in C case. |  |
| AVX Corporation has announced a new low ESR tantalum capacitor range which includes – for the first time – low ESR 330µF/6.3V parts in a C-case (6032-26). Previously, the only low ESR option within this capacitance/voltage (C/V) ratio was only available in the larger D-case (7343-31). With an ESR as low as 80mΩ, TPS capacitors are suitable for smoothing and filtering on 3.3V power rails, a favourite output voltage of DC/DC convertors. Thanks to their high capacitance capability, these capacitors can also be used as battery support in handheld devices, where small size is one of the key design requirements. | |

| AVX is the first and only supplier to offer full qualification of all values, voltages and case sizes to both B and T levels of the MIL PRF 49470 specification. AVX Corporation has expanded its offering of MIL QPL products with switch mode power supply capacitors that meet MIL PRF 49470 specifications. Leading Thin Film Fuse Technology Now Available to DSCC-DWG 04053 | |
| AVX Corporation has received Defense Supply Centre Columbus (DSCC) approval for its TBW Series fused tantalum chip. Providing low equivalent series resistance (ESR), the TBW tantalum fuse is ideal for safe, low impedance power supply filtering. The TBW Series features a fast acting and failsafe internal fuse element making it well suited to mission critical applications where fail-safe operation is needed, such as avionic power supplies and power distribution, banked applications for bulk decoupling and backplane. "The TBW Series offers the lowest ESR value available for a fused tantalum in a case size that is less than half of that of the competition" said Dan Lane, Marketing Manager, Tantalum Products at AVX.
